I was born in Taipei, but grew up in Indonesia. I grew up in a trilingual environment. At home, my family and I converse in Chinese. At school I used Indonesia’s language, Bahasa Indonesia, and English. My junior and senior high school was a bilingual school. We had several foreign teachers and some of our classes, such as Biology and math, were taught in English. There were also a lot of overseas students from America, Australia, and Korea. One of my best friends is from Australia. Naturally, we communicate in English. So I had a lot of chance to practice English since I was young. I became very interested in learning English and decided to major in English for University. In 1999, I was accepted into Fu-Jen University’s English Department. In the English Department I have improved my reading, writing, and conversation skills. All our classes were taught in English and the teachers required us to converse in English during classes. I also joined several events during university, such as the Freshman Play Contest and Speech Contest. All these experiences helped me to improve my speech ability and trained me to speak in front of other people. In my sophomore year, I decided to take up Information Management minor. I have always been interested in computer and it is my opinion that management skills are a very essential skill to have in all area of works. After I finished the Information Management minor, I decided to take up Japanese minor. As I’ve already learned a little bit of Japanese before, I thought that this will be the perfect opportunity for me to acquire another language. I’ve always like learning language because it meant that I will be able to learn about a whole new culture and tradition and also be able to communicate with more people.
