During my undergraduate years, I have had the pleasure to share the passion to teach as an undergraduate biology teacher assistant at UCSD. I loved teaching students. Every week, I led a section to emphasize the main ideas of class materials and to encourage discussions. During office hours, I offered individual attention to each student. The intimate discussion allowed me to find a personalized way to help each individual student. Whether a student wanted to better understand fundamental concepts or to explore specialized topics in biology, I found ways to satisfy each student's desires. As a teacher assistant, I learned to communicate, interact, and fulfill my students' needs by identifying with their backgrounds and perspectives.
